Bristol Avon Rivers Trust
River Fly Monitoring - Free Course
Saturday 16th August - 9:00am
Cowbridge, Swindon Road, Malmesbury
Try something different, get out and about in the countryside, learn about your local wildlife and make a difference to your river. River flies are a good indicator of the health of the river. By monitoring them we can spot problems early on. Come and learn how to do it for free.
The day will start with coffee at 9.00am aiming for a 9.30am start and will go on until about 3.00pm depending on precisely how many coffees and how much chat there is. You will need to bring some lunch unless you can survive on the odd biscuit, and you'll need to wear clothing suitable to the weather. Wellingtons or waders are also needed.
All the monitoring kit will be provided for new trainees but if you are coming for a refresher please bring your own ( and remember it all looks the same so you may need to personalise it somehow). Newly trained attendees will receive their kit courtesy of a grant made by Wiltshire Council.

The Bristol Avon Rivers Trust (BART) is a charity that want to deliver education, land & river management advice and practical river restoration work in the Bristol Avon Catchment.
The training takes place at the BART offices in Cedar House at the Riverside Business Village, Swindon Road, Malmesbury SN16 9RS.
Directions:
From the M5 take the A429 to Malmesbury. When you are close to the town you will come to a large roundabout where you then follow the B4042 towards Swindon.
From Cirencester follow the A429 past the first roundabout near the BP petrol station. At the second roundabour take the first exit onto the B4042 towards Swindon.
When you're on the B4042 you go up a rise and down to the river at Cowbridge. As you come to the bottom of the hill there are two turnings on the left by office and housing. Cedar House is the office block at the entrance to the first of these and is immediately on your left after you have turned off - there should be sufficient parking outside.
